DAHLIA SLEEPS STORM

Indie-pop quartet Dahlia Sleeps return, not with a bang and a shout, but with the hushed new single ‘Storm’. Despite the tempestuous title, this song is a shelter; an introspective huddle in search of intimacy. The gentle melody is carved out of soft-edged synths, which morph into warm acoustic strings about halfway through as we're drawn further and further into this soulful narrative. This atmospheric track is reminiscent of Arctic Lake or London Grammar - there’s just something so distinctive about London’s indie-pop scene and Dahlia Sleeps are earnest in their approach. As vocalist Lucy Hill comments, “It’s a song that feels truly us - I feel this comfort in it that I don’t think I’ve felt before”, and it’s a philosophy that we can expect throughout the rest of the band’s forthcoming EP. - Hannah Thacker
